The MidCon comprises some 3,216 route miles traversing ten states and extending into Manitoba, Canada. In 2009, the MidCon moved over 192 million tons of freight, removing the equivalent of more than 7.5 million trucks from the nation’s highways, saving over 397 million gallons of fuel and almost 5 million tons of greenhouse gases. The MidCon is also host to Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer and Texas Eagle passenger service. Consumer, industrial and agricultural products, and coal constitute the majority of the freight that moves across this Corridor.
