July 8, 2010 - Texas officials are asking the Obama administration to contribute nearly $60 million to help two of America's largest private railroads unsnarl a Fort Worth rail crossing that is one of the country's most traffic-jammed freight intersections. The so-called Tower 55 crossing in downtown Fort Worth needs additional tracks so not every train moving through the crowded freight intersection has to stop and wait for another, state and local officials said Wednesday during a tour of the crossing.

Feb. 18, 2010 - It took about six months, but the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has whittled down more than 1,400 applications for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants to 51. Yesterday, the agency announced the recipients, which include rail, transit, intermodal, port, bridge and highway projects in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
